I wore these to uni on Friday this week.
Thought it might be the last time that I will be able to wear them this year,

Comeback of the century?

I'm making another comeback.
Going to try and update this blog more frequently again.

So if people don't know, I am set to go on my exchange in 2011.
I'm so excited I can pee my pant. 3 times in a row.
I don't know the exact date I leave, but it seems like it will be around late January!

Woot, Bologna here I come!
I've started to look up some apartments in the city (in Italian ;) ciao tutti)
and I feel like packing my bag right now. Even though I don't leave for another few months.

Oh and..

I GOT TICKETS TO GLASTONBURY 2011!!

yeah, kinda fucking awesome, I know.

Oh and...

I also got a tattoo.

Finally.

So I think that's about all the new updates in my life since I last wrote.
If there are any friends, followers, randoms or stalkers still out there interested in my blog -

And also I will be selling some of my clothes to clear up some room in my closet
and to make up for some extra funds for Italy.

Let your hair down

I feel like changing my hair. I had a dramatic hair change a couple of months ago when
I cut my hair & curled it.
Now I want to dye it.

I dyed my hair in high school before.
I dyed it brown/green
(saw a guy at the station with soft green hair so I wanted the same).
Didn't really turn out green,
and it totally damaged by hair. So
despite wanting change, I am not very keen on drowning my locks
in chemical any time soon.

I should just buy a wig.

So after a month of so of being AWOL.. I'm back! My pictures folder has so many photos and images that I have been saving to upload on the blog but I've been lazy...

But I just saw these cat print Miu Miu clogs and I couldn't resist not posting!

I'm really into animal prints lately... Bought a pair of fox print pants from Black Label (sold in Dangerfield!) recently and I love love love them. Can't stop wearing them!

They're from the men's section but I got the smallest size and fits just right. But perhaps because they were designed for guys... one friend commented one night that I didn't really fill it out properly in a certain section... (hmm).

Below is a very bad, almost embarrassing, photo of the pants that I took literally minutes ago for the blog (that's dedication right there).

So I went to Melbourne a few weeks ago with my sister. It's my second time going there and I seriously love the city. It's way better than Sydney in terms of architecture and the general atmosphere of the streets. But then again, perhaps I only think that because I haven't lived there.

All we literally did in Melbourne was eat. I didn't get to go to Degraves Pl last time I went and my sister showed me the most tastiest cafes there. I also saw Grant Denyer there (host of Australia's Got Talent) - woot local celeb spotting!

Anyway, not to bore anyone more with tourist pictures, I'll finish off here. The photos of Melbourne were taken on my iPhone, Canon digital camera and my sister's Nikon SLR. Hence you might find that the photos are of different qualities. Will post more pictures later on in different posts perhaps. Just wanted to post a few now to promote Melbourne as the food capital of Australia and to finally update my blog!

Back in the 90s, 2000s... when we used to go on roadtrips,

me and my sister used to listen to the Spice Girls. My dog always fell asleep

when this song came on.

An Education

So you all probably know the movie An Education starring Carey Mulligan.

I watched this movie while I was on my flight back home last holidays.

I'm a sucker for sad movies (I cried while watching Up!) so my friend

recommended this to me when we were in the plane.

And she was right, I loved it!

I guess the story can be a little cliche -

good girl falls for the bad boy, young girl falls for the older man.

But it was so beautifully shot.

The costumes, setting, lighting...

So good!

Hongdae

During my stay in Korea I stayed mainly in Hongdae.

And in central Hongdae too, near the university because

that's where my grandparents live.

It was fantastic living in Hongdae because that's where all the young & hip

Koreans go. It's famous for being filled with uni students.

The alley ways are filled with unique graffiti also because

the Hongdae University is famous for specialising in arts.

Sorry for the crap photos. There were more better graffitis as well but can't seem

to find them right now.

There was also really great architecture in Hongdae as well.

The last photo is of a cafe? (I think, didn't get the chance to go in)

called 'Over the door'. Hence all the door nailed to the outside walls.

Every night the streets of Hongdae light up and all the small stores are open til late.

There's rows of clothing shops (check out the fruit loops jumper in the photo!)

and cafes and food shops. The last two photos are of this

small street soju/food shop that seemed to hold a little shrine to past rock stars.

Out of the many cafes in Hong Dae my favourite was 'Dada Cafe'. I ended up going there twice.

If you go to Seoul I recommend you go there!

The owner is really cool - he's this old guy with long grey hair.

And I think that the workers can speak little English. Or at least the one who served me did.

@ Dada there are two small dogs who are the mascots of the cafe.

They walk around freely and customers are allowed to pat them, hug them, let them sit on the tables etc.

The two dogs are actually a couple called Daljjae & Sambunee. The girl is pregnant right now.

My cousin said daljjae means like scrawny and I think sambunee refers to three minutes.

Forgot which dog was called which... but they're so adorable and tiny.

The girl dog is the one wearing the yellow vest. The owners shaved her legs to make it look like she's wearing ugg boots because it was winter when I went over.

Every Friday or Saturday night Dada Cafe hosts live music.

The night I went, there was this really funny old American guitar/singer who seemed like he had been living in Korea for a long time.

I was also very lucky that night because I went when some jive (I think?) dancers were there.

I think they were celebrating some event and happened to come to this cafe.

And they danced and showed off their awesome skills as the live music played.

Because of them the atmosphere was so lively and fantastic.

KIMEE KIM

1997 - 2010

On Tuesday we had to put our dog Kimee to sleep.

It was the hardest decision of my life...

But I know that it was the right one because she had been suffering. She was having multple strokes a night and you could tell she was in clear pain.

About 2 weeks ago we noticed that she was acting differently, walking constantly in circles.

The vet said that she had either a stroke or brain tumour,

and we could do an MRI or CT scan to see which it is.

But

because she was almost 14 (her birthday is in June)

there was really no point, because if it is a stroke, then medicine can make her better.

But if it is a brain tumour, then she will only get worse

and because of her old age, the chances of her surviving surgery was low.

So I guess you can say I was prepared for this in some way.

But that doesn't ease the pain in any way.

She was the most alert, bright and intelligent dog that I know.

So to have seen her so weak during the last days was heartbreaking. She got so weak that when the vet injected her to put her down, he couldn't find a strong enough pulse.

When she was sedated, she was in my arms.

It was the most peaceful I had see her in so long. Kimee, I'm so sorry that I couldn't take your pain away.

I have another pet, another dog called Sam. Maybe because he is a different breed, a Golden Retriever who are more friendly and loves people, Sam feels like a family pet. A family dog.

He's the type of dog you see in those good feel Disney family movies where

the family dog does nothing but wait by the gate, waiting for you to come home.

Kimee was different. She was cunning, selifsh and knew how to get her way.

Maybe that's why I always saw her like a person.

Don't get me wrong, I still love Sam just as much.

Sam is the dog who depends on us, he's so innocent and beautiful that I want to protect him from the evils of the world.

Kimee was the dog I depended on, she was so strong and smart that I knew I could trust her to always get me through the hard times.

Kimee was my best friend and my family.

I had her for more than half my life, and through the hardest times of my life.

She knew when I was sad, and never failed to lick my tears away, even during the last days when she barely had strength to breathe.

I grew up with her, that it's weird I don't really remember life before her.

I feel like I've lost a part of myself, a part of my childhood.

I know no one will probably read this long post.

But what the heck, this is my blog. And I feel like I owe her something

and a short message of how incredible she was is the least I can do.

Been following the show since the first season, with the first cast.

I know a lot of people have said the second group of Skins cast

were'nt as great as the first (I so miss Cassie)

but I really did like Effy's character.

She was so dark and mysterious and I just wanted to give her a big hug.

The fourth season of Skins was a big dramatic

but I still can't wait for

the fifth season!

INSADONG

has a lot of the original Korean architecture.

But is a really tourist place.

There's lots of Western people in Insadong

and lots of ambassies.

Also apparently my dad used to go drinking a lot there...

The best thing about Insadong

is that it's in the centre to everywhere

and you find the best tea houses or food places in its many alleyways.

Also the trick with Seoul is to always look up.

Because there's more shops on the second, third, fourth etc. floors.

I MISS KOREA

So I went to visit the Motherland early this year.

I didn't really know what to expect, since

my last visit to Seoul was about 7 years ago.

To be honest, I didn't think I would enjoy Korea as much as I did.

Having moved to Australia when I was just a kid,

I never had the chance to grow up

with grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles.

So to me, Korea was a place that I came from.

I didn't really know how to go back.

But this year my feelings changed.

I still felt like

a stranger

but I felt

welcomed

at the same time.

It was weird.

But I will definately go back.

The above pictures are of the Han River

taken from the Haneul Park (Sky Park),

which is this

small mountain. My grandpa actually told the

history of the park. The mountain used to be

a huge pile of rubbish

that kept growing because of the immense population

in Seoul. Eventually it got too high

that they decided to use the

gas that was being emitted from it as energy

for the city and has now been transformed into an environmental park.

It really shows you how much Korea has changed over the years.

Everything has become cleaner

and safer.

I'll post some pictures that I took of my trip.

I really wish I had a better camera on me.

*I'm so in shock at the sudden news. And so sad too.

I follow her blog everyday

and comment on it from time to time.

And I always saw her as my inspiration.

I didn't know what to do with them.

And so I decided to grow up hair because I was lazy to cut it.

And then I decided, well I'll just keep growing

my hair with bangs like

And I admired her.

First on a superficial level because she was living that glamourous life

of a model that everybody wants.

But mainly because she seemed like such a free soul

letting her emotions out in creative and poetic ways.

Been watching old episodes of 'The Nanny'

And Fran Drescher is so funny!

They seriously had one of the best costumes on tv.

The most amazing jackets, skirts and dress in the most wildest patterns.

The quality of the pictures are quite bad,

when Maxwell asks Fran to sign a prenup.

So I watched Wicked the Musical last week with my besties and...
WICKED WAS SO WICKED!

it was my first time watching a musical and I wasn't disappointed one little bit!

It's seriously money well spent.

The cast was magnificent.

The set design was brilliant and the costumes were fantastic!

The Sydney cast consists of Amanda Harrison, Lucy Durak, Rob Mills, Bert Newton & Maggie Kirkpatrick.

Amanada and Lucy are both so pretty, beautiful and a-m-a-z-i-n-g singers!

And I never knew Millsy could sing so well!

He put on a great performance. And so did Bert Newton!

I'm a pretty nonchalant person.

I say things I want to say

I do the things I want to do

And if someone says something to me that I dont like

then I just let it go quickly

and brush it from my mind.

But I'm also a insecure person. And sometimes a perfectionist.

I overthink. All the time.

Sometime I wish I had an off button in my brain.

Which is why whenever I make a mistake,

it plays over and over in my head.

Even worse, I think they even become embedded in my bones.

I can't let them go.

They haunt me.

And they taunt me.

I cringe at some of my past mistakes. I wish they never happened.

But I've become wiser, I've become stronger & I've become more mature.

So I'm thankful. And glad.

Because it showed me who I was and exposed others for who they weren't.

But sometimes the price I paid to learn these things.

Makes me question if they were all worth it?

Does what I've gained make up for what I've lost?

I've started to shut myself from the rest of the world because I'm afraid to repeat the past.

I want to grow from my mistakes, not change because of it.

*I'm a carefree person. I'm cool with things.

I'm a critical person. I analyse everything.

This makes me one fking hypocritical person.

So I turned 20 yesterday.

That't right... I am now two decades old.

So I read a book the other day.

I love Julia Roberts.

She and Kate Winslet are my favourite female actresses.

She was sweet as Anna in Notting Hill.

The song 'She' is still my fav.

I alwasy hum it whenever I see a wooden bench next to a tree.

I love love love her smile - her mouth opens so wide and her teeth always looks so nice. Haha

And her laugh is so addictive.

I've always wanted this Romance was Born

rope necklace

but it was too expensive and I'm just a poor little student

so I refrained from buying it.

But

then one day, while I was @ the Fringe Markets @ Surry Hills,

I saw a very very similar rope necklace (don't think it's the same one)

for $30. But then the girl gave it to me for

$25.

Anyhows, this is one of the last things that I bought before the shopping ban.

So far the ban has been going alright (though it has only been about a week)

But

I did buy a vintage Carla Zampatti military style coat from

the Salvation Army for $10 (was on sale from $20)

...

But I am justifying this since it was a bargain purchase

and these days I'm trying to get into resewing old clothes

to mayb even sell online.

So I consider this as a future investment

...

And I also bought 2 notebooks (one for my bestie)

and this enviromentally friendly/biodegradeable plastic cup

(which now I regret - should have bought the orange/red/blue one

instead of the plain black&white).

...

But I justify the 2 notebooks b/c I wanted to buy my bestie a gift

and there was a special deal if you bought 2.

And the cup I'm saving a sa future present for a friend

and I am supporting local Aussie designers.

Shopping ban sucks.

So I am totally decided on getting a tattoo now and I've finally decided on a design that I want.

Before I wanted a Banksy art design, most likely the one of the girl with the red balloon. But then I thought that I would probably get ink poisoning... so decided to search more for a smaller & simple designs.

I'll probably do something like Kate Moss's anchor one - either on the inside of my wrist or on my ankle. I'm not creative nor original enough to think of a unique design myself... so who better than to copy the Queen of style herself?

Besides, anchors have a symbolic meaning. It represents (me thinks for me) stability in life. Which is something that I could definately do with...

Or I might do something like Daul Kim's (she's my favourite!), a small star on the palm. I always wanted a star but thought it would look too much like I just put a Photoshop stamp of stars on myself... So I might go with like an anchor on my palm...

I was at Ruby Rabbit (@ Oxford st) last night for a friend's friend's birthday party. It was pretty cool mainly coz of the lights. But I must say, the toilet was the highlight of the place!

The walls were painted pink and only "vaginas" were allowed into

the female toilets.

The walls had candy like (according to Jess) flowers all over the walls

& ceilings.

How feminine!

I judge places by how cool their toilets are.

The Opera House toilets are pretty good.

But my fav still is the Oxford Art Factory ones.

They're slightly raunchy but interesting.
