The Last Lecture (Randy Pausch)

As part of my 2012 new year resolutions, I have decided to read more books. When I was a kid I used to love reading so much that I would sit for hours by the window in my room just reading.

So this year I have decided to get back into it.

My sister recommended me The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch. It’s a short book written by a professor called Randy Pausch who unfortunately was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. In his last few months, he decided to give a last lecture so that his final teachings could be recorded for his three little children. You can also see the lecture on his website onhttp://www.thelastlecture.com/. It’s not the most brilliantly written but it does make you reflect on your life, which serves its purpose I suppose.

Randy Pausch writes about his childhood dreams and in one way or another, how he had managed to achieve them.

Thinking back now, I don’t remember what my childhood dreams were. I never had big dreams of going to space. Or building a train. Or becoming a ballerina. Now I suppose my dreams are to travel the world. Having lived in Italy for a year (and consequently Europe), my eyes are now set on the Big Apple. Living it up in New York - should be a challenge!

It’s still an idealistic dream, as I think dreams should be, yet it’s still an adult pragamatic one. New York is the place of fashion and culture. That’s the idealism talking. But New York is also the place for new job opportunities. That’s the adult in me talking.

So if I can go back to my childhood, what will the child in me say? And what will the child in you say? What are your childhood dreams?

An Education

So you all probably know the movie An Education starring Carey Mulligan.

I watched this movie while I was on my flight back home last holidays.

I'm a sucker for sad movies (I cried while watching Up!) so my friend

recommended this to me when we were in the plane.

And she was right, I loved it!

I guess the story can be a little cliche -

good girl falls for the bad boy, young girl falls for the older man.

But it was so beautifully shot.

The costumes, setting, lighting...

So good!

A movie about cougars and boy toys in the 19th Century.

And a movie that reminds you time and time again

just how beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer is.

Of course, helped by the glamourous costumes.

Been watching old episodes of 'The Nanny'

And Fran Drescher is so funny!

They seriously had one of the best costumes on tv.

The most amazing jackets, skirts and dress in the most wildest patterns.

The quality of the pictures are quite bad,

but the last picture is from the episode

when Maxwell asks Fran to sign a prenup.

She wore this dress

that had on it

the wrappers of different chocolates

like M&Ms, Hersheys etc.

Kind of reminded me of Project Runway when they

try to make clothes out of food.

And once they used lollies

and someone made a dress out of chocolate wrappers.

Wicked

So I watched Wicked the Musical last week with my besties and...
WICKED WAS SO WICKED!

it was my first time watching a musical and I wasn't disappointed one little bit!

It's seriously money well spent.

The cast was magnificent.

The set design was brilliant and the costumes were fantastic!

The Sydney cast consists of Amanda Harrison, Lucy Durak, Rob Mills, Bert Newton & Maggie Kirkpatrick.

Amanada and Lucy are both so pretty, beautiful and a-m-a-z-i-n-g singers!

And I never knew Millsy could sing so well!

He put on a great performance. And so did Bert Newton!

Haha he was funny.

Haha my favourite moment was when the cast came out for their bow at the end.

And me and my friends we were all clapping.

Then one of the guys who played the money with wings took off his mask and came out.

That's when we went from clapclapclapclapclap to oooooooooooooh!!!

Lol because he was quite the handsome fellow! ;)

Shame he hid it behins that monkey mask the entire time...

Paper Heart

So I watched Paper Heart last week.

And it was awesome, foursome!

Charlyne Yi is so cute & funny.

And Michael Cera was Michael Cera!

I literally squealed everytime he came out.

(This scene was so adorable! Haha Charlyne..!)

All the puppet scenes were so amazing.
So creative!

"Love is.... like how I love Chris Brown!"
